Sony Xperia P (LT22i) Specifications Review
Sony Xperia P looks beautiful with its 4.0” LED-backlit LCD display. It has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels resolution (275 ppi pixel density), which is pretty good for its size. The screen looks bright and clear. Viewing angles are also good enough. Sony WhiteMagic technology is applied to improve its visibility in bright sunlight. The capacitive touchscreen is quite responsive so you’ll be able to swipe through menus smoothly. Scratch-resistant glass, Multitouch (up to 4 fingers), Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, Timescape UI, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, and Proximity sensor are also included to support the display.
The Xperia P uses Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) / v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system, but you have a chance to upgrade it to v4.1 (Jelly Bean). A dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processor works along with Mali-400 GPU and 1 GB of RAM to power the phone. It has reasonable performance. It doesn’t have monstrous speed, but it can handle most tasks pretty well. Various apps can be launched smoothly. With 16 GB of internal storage (13 GB user available), the phone provides plenty of room for your photos, music, videos, and documents. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to expand the storage capacity since it doesn’t have memory card slot. Connectivity options are quite various including Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot; DLNA; Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, EDR; microUSB v2.0, USB On-the-go; and NFC.
The main 8 MP camera is attached on the back of the phone. It is equipped with various features like autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama, image stabilization, and video recording capability. The camera can produce beautiful pictures, especially in good lighting environments. You can also use it to record a full HD video (up to 1080p@30fps). A dedicated camera key is a very good addition as you can have better control while taking pictures. On the front side of the phone, there is a secondary VGA camera that can be used for video calling.
The Xperia P still has many other features to offer such as: GPS with A-GPS support; Digital compass; Email; Instant Messaging; Push Email; HTML5; Adobe Flash; Stereo FM radio with RDS; SNS integration; HDMI port; Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic; MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player; MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV player; Google Search; Maps; Gmail; YouTube; Calendar; Google Talk; Organizer; Document viewer; Voice memo; Voice dial; Voice commands; Predictive text input; and more.
